The Traffic Operations Practitioner Specialist ™ (TOPS) certification program is designed as a broad assessment of knowledge in traffic operations at the practitioner level. You must meet each of the following requirements to receive TOPS certification.

1. A minimum of five years of related experience. Education is equivalent to experience based on a two-, three- or four-year program or TOPS relevant education or training. A maximum of four years of education may be applied to the experience requirement. At least one year of experience shall be in traffic operations; and
2. Successfully complete the TOPS 100 question examination by attainment of a passing score.  Applicants may not already have a professional engineering license or the equivalent.
